Localised repair
The default quote for a damaged floor is to sand and refinish the entire room. Sometimes that is right. Far more often the damage is one board, one scratch or one worn band by a doorway, and refinishing means days of dust barriers, an unusable room, and paying to redo eighty square metres of floor that had nothing wrong with it.
Localised repair does the opposite. The damaged area is rebuilt, shaped and finished, then colour-matched to the boards around it. Done properly the repair reads as part of the floor. Done badly it reads as a bright patch, which is why colour matching is the part of this job that actually matters and the part that separates a good repair from an obvious one.
The most common calls we get in San Diego are water damage near dishwashers and refrigerators, scratches from furniture and dogs, and chips from dropped tools during other renovation work. Appliance leaks are worth mentioning specifically: we repair appliances as well, so when a failing dishwasher has taken out the boards in front of it, both halves of that problem get handled by the same visit rather than two trades blaming each other.
If you can, send photos in daylight before the visit. Floor colour is notoriously hard to judge under warm indoor lighting, and an accurate read on the tone is what lets us quote properly and arrive with the right materials.

Yes, and that is most of what we do. A single board is rebuilt or replaced in place and colour-matched to its neighbours, which costs a fraction of refinishing a room and leaves the rest of the installation untouched.
Close enough that the repair is not the thing you notice when you walk in. On patterned and mid-tone floors matches are effectively invisible; very pale or very uniform floors are the hardest, and we tell you that before starting rather than after.
