Washer & dryer repair in San Diego

A washer that won't drain or a dryer that tumbles without heat is rarely a dead machine. Most of these faults are a pump, a belt, an element or a blocked vent, and most finish in one visit.

Symptoms

What usually goes wrong

Washers and dryers fail differently, so it helps to separate them.

Washer won't drain

Drain pump, a blocked filter or a kinked hose.

Washer won't spin

Drive belt, lid switch or motor coupler.

Washer leaking

Door boot, hose connections or the pump seal.

Dryer runs but stays cold

Heating element, thermal fuse or a blocked vent.

Dryer takes two or three cycles

Almost always airflow, not the machine.

Loud banging or grinding

Drum rollers, bearings or the idler pulley.

Spacious kitchen with wooden cabinets
A dryer that needs two cycles is a vent problemRestricted airflow doubles your energy use and is a real fire risk.

Four steps, no surprises on the invoice

Pricing

Estimate first, repair only on your approval

Every job is priced after an on-site inspection, because the same symptom can mean a routine part or a sealed-system job. The technician checks the appliance and gives you the exact number before anything is opened up.

The $115 service call covers the visit and diagnosis, and it is credited toward the repair when you approve it. Contact us to schedule an inspection and receive an on-site estimate.

Front-load, top-load and stacked

The vent is the part nobody thinks about

When a dryer stops heating, most people assume the element has burned out. Often it has, but the reason it burned out is a restricted vent line. Lint accumulates in the duct behind the machine and inside the wall run, airflow drops, the element overheats and the thermal fuse sacrifices itself to protect the appliance. Replace the fuse without clearing the duct and you are back in three months, having paid twice.

That is why we check the vent on every dryer call rather than treating it as an upsell. In San Diego homes with long duct runs, especially second-floor laundry closets and condos venting through the roof, restricted airflow is the single most common underlying cause we see. It is also a fire risk that the U.S. Fire Administration attributes thousands of home fires to every year, and the warning sign is exactly the symptom people ignore: clothes that need two cycles to dry.

On the washer side, the pattern is different. Front-loaders fail at the door boot, the drain pump and the door lock; top-loaders fail at the lid switch, the coupler and the transmission. Both are repairable well past the point where people assume a new machine is the sensible move. A drain pump is a routine part and a routine job, and it does not justify replacing the machine.

We work on Bosch, Miele, LG, Samsung, Whirlpool, Maytag, Frigidaire, Amana, GE, Speed Queen and Electrolux, including stacked and compact units where the whole cabinet has to come apart to reach the drum. If yours is a compact European machine, mention it when you book, since those need more time on site.

Coverage runs across San Diego County, with priority for the coastal cities from La Jolla up through Carlsbad. Call before noon and same-afternoon slots are usually available.

Questions

Before you call

Why does my dryer take two cycles to dry a load?

Nearly always restricted airflow rather than a failing machine. Lint builds up in the duct behind the dryer and inside the wall run, and the moist air cannot escape fast enough. Clearing the vent restores normal cycles and removes a real fire risk at the same time.

Is a washer that won't drain an expensive repair?

Usually not. The most common causes are a blocked pump filter, a foreign object in the pump, or a kinked drain hose, and all three are quick jobs. A full pump replacement is still far cheaper than a new machine.

Do you repair stacked and compact European units?

Yes. Stacked sets and compact Bosch, Miele and Asko machines need more disassembly to reach the drum and belt, so they take longer on site, but they are standard work for us. Mention the model when you book so we allow the time.

Should I repair a ten-year-old washer?

Often yes, particularly for Speed Queen, Miele and older Whirlpool machines built to be serviced. The deciding factor is the cost of the specific repair against the machine's remaining life, and we give you that comparison at the diagnosis rather than after.
